A family spokesman says it could be weeks before a funeral is held for a 4-year-old mid-Michigan boy whose remains were found last week.

Kevin Chamberlain says the delay is necessary to accommodate the investigation of Carnel Chamberlain's death near Mount Pleasant. He says it's "disappointing but understandable." The FBI declined to comment.

Meanwhile, the man who was watching Carnel on the day he disappeared is returning to Bay City federal court Tuesday for a bail hearing. Anthony Bennett is charged with abusing the boy weeks ago. No charges have been filed in the death.

The boy's body was under the house he shared with his mother, Jaimee Chamberlain, and Bennett. Bennett's attorney will ask a judge to release him on bond.
