16 Shooting Incidents Along Highway

At least 16 incidents of gunfire have been reported along the I-96 corridor between Ingham County and Oakland County since Tuesday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's office. Among those, Ingham County's Sheriff's office is investigating five incidents where cars were targeted by gunfire along M-52 north of Webberville. On Friday, detectives discovered a shell casing on M-52 in the vicinity of the reported gunfire.

No one has been hurt.

Ingham County Sheriff's Office Major. Joel Maatman says that from Wixom to Commerce Township, Livingston County and north of Webberville, the common thread has been the report of a black 4-door sedan, possibly a Chevy Cavalier or Ford Mustang. The gunman is believed to be firing from his car.

A multi-county task force is being formed this weekend to investigate the rash of highway shootings. State Police, Ingham, Livingston and Oakland counties. Maatman says that there will be an increased police presence along I-96 and M-52 this weekend.
