Under Ingham County's Friend of the Court's Jail Alternative Sentence Program, or JASP, parents that could have but didn't pay child support are given a choice: do jail time or work during the day for credit.

Currently, five Ingham County organizations provide JASP jobs. The city of Lansing has yet to sign on. The Friend of the Court will soon reach out to the city again using an Ash tree replacement project to entice city leaders.

Donald Reisig, Deputy Court Administrator for the Friend of the Court, says once he found out Lansing had $100,000 to replace devastated Ash trees he decided to approach leaders again. A meeting is scheduled Monday.
