Henry Ford's only granddaughter has died.
Josephine Clay Ford escaped what she described as "all that Ford stuff" to devote her life to philanthropy and a renowned art collection.
Her nephew Bill Ford Junior announced the death in an e-mail to Ford employees.
The e-mail didn't say where the Grosse Pointe Farms resident died or give the cause of death.
Josephine Ford was born in 1923. She was the third of Edsel and Eleanor Ford's four children.
Henry Ford the Second was the oldest of the four. He was led Ford Motor from 1945 until 1979.
The two other brothers inherited millions but didn't hold key positions with the automaker.
