Governor-elect Jennifer Granholm has sent word, even before she takes office, that she and Lt. Governor-elect John Cherry will turn down any pay raise.
In a letter to the State Officers Compensation Commission, Ms. Granholm said that given the state's budget crisis she will reject any attempt to raise her salary in the fiscal year 2005-06.
Incoming Senate Majority Leader Ken Sikkema, a Wyoming Republican, also wrote to the commission saying it is too early to consider any pay raise for government officials.
Here are the current annual pay rates:
All but the justices receive expense allowances and legislative leaders receive supplemental amounts.
