A mock air disaster is staged at Capital City Airport early Thursday morning. Numerous emergency crews took part in the drill.

The exercise is aimed at testing the response time of emergency personnel. The drill is conducted every three years, but this drill has greater significance due to the tragedies of 9-11.

Airport officials say about 85 victims volunteered for the exercise. Dave Wills, director of operations for security at the airport, says the drill costs the airport between $12,000 and $13,000.

Wills says emergency crews need to improve on their communication. He says there are numerous emergency teams at a scene of an accident and excellent communication is a necessity.
