Officials at Ingham Regional Medical Center are hoping this new state-of-the-art medical facility will meet twenty-first century demands.

"It's going to be more comfortable for the patient, there will be better working conditions for the employees and staff," said Ingham spokesman David Eich.

Eich said the new facility will also mean about 60 more jobs.

Over the last seven years, Ingham Regional has experienced a 50 percent growth in patient admissions. The new facility will provide space for diagnostic cardiac and radiology services, newly renovated labs, a new surgical intensive care unit and more space for patients.

The medical center will have two separate entrances, one for patients and one for visitors.

"It's going to propel us well into the 21st century," Eich said. "This is the largest construction project this campus has ever seen."

The new facility will be approximately 158,000 square feet and four stories tall.
Ground breaking will take place in June and planners say it will be finished in about two years.
