Despite some bad news on the job front, the health care industry continues to boom. The push to make the Capital City a health care center of excellence was the focus of a seminar Tuesday.
Capital Area Michigan Works released its report about health care jobs at the seminar. Doug Stites, CEO of Capital Area Michigan Works, says health care is one industry that seems to be immune to the struggling economy. With the current shortage of nurses and retirement looming for ones on the job, the need for health care workers will only increase.
Local hospitals won't have to look too far for potential employees, both Lansing Community College and Michigan State University have reputable programs. And don't expect recruiting to stop there, local high schools are also on the list.
