The future of a vacant lansing landmark could be up to voters.

The downtown Lansing Ottawa powerstation also called the old Board of Water and Light building may be on track to be sold through an August ballot vote.

That is, if the city council approves it to go on that ballot next Monday.

City leaders believe this could be the start of a process that could lead to a tenant.

The state of michigan has already expressed an interest in about 130,000 square feet of the the 170,000 square foot building.

The rest could be developed for commercial private business.
