An Eaton County woman is in hot water even before she starts serving a two-year sentence for stealing $120,000 from an employer.
Lori Knechtel has been charged with obstruction of justice. The government accuses her of submitting a forged letter about herself before she was sentenced in March. She hasn't been required to report to prison yet.
The letter to a judge described Knechtel as "irreplaceable." It was purportedly signed by the manager of a sports bar in Mason.
Knechtel was arrested Tuesday and is in custody until a hearing Friday in federal court in Grand Rapids. A message seeking comment was left for her attorney Wednesday.
