A broken piece of glass is getting the blame for a fire that consumed eight acres of grassland in Washtenaw County.
Ypsilanti Township fire Lt. Keith Harr says his crews got a call about 2 p.m. Wednesday of a fire burning near Ford Motor Co.'s Rawsonville plant. It's about 25 miles west-southwest of Detroit.
Harr says the cause of the blaze turned out to be "magnification by busted glass."
He says the site used to be a recreation area for plant workers and the grass had grown calf high. He says winds aided the spread, and it took about two hours to contain with help from a special grass-fire truck and a crew from nearby Augusta Township.
Harr reports no injuries or building damage.
