Authorities are awaiting the results of a blood test for illegal drugs before determining whether to seek charges against a 16-year-old Michigan high school student whose car struck a security officer in the school's parking lot.

WHMI-FM and the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell report 52-year old Susan Hazzard's condition has improved since she was hit Tuesday afternoon outside Hartland High School in Hartland Township. She was hospitalized in fair condition.

Authorities say the teen, who lives in Brighton, was driving an estimated 45 mph. Sheriff Bob Bezotte says a preliminary investigation shows the teen dropped something on floor and bent down to retrieve it but hit the gas pedal. Bezotte says suspected marijuana was found in the car.
