Cranbrook Apartments on Lansing's south side were known for being a crime-infested area. But new renovations hope to change the image.
The complex is now known as Summer Place Townhomes. Once down to 28 families, more than 100 families are currently living there.
The state housing development authority and capital fund for housing help pour close to $10 million into the complex. Lansing Police say they hope the renovations change the image.
Police say the department has received 14 calls since renovations began last December, drastically down from previous years.
Some change are better accommodations inside the apartments like new light, cabinets, and appliances. There is also 24-hour security surveillance.
