Legislative Republicans are eyeing a possible tax shift as an alternative to the governor's single business tax cut.
The governor has told Republicans who don't like her single business tax idea, to come up with one of their own. It appears they are trying to do just that.
Although no plan is on the table, one that is being considered would slice the state sales tax rate from six percent to five percent and then extend that tax to unspecified state services such as lawyers and doctors. The money from that could be reduced to eliminate the SBT or reduce the state income tax rate.
