State Police Collect 700 Pounds of Prescription Drugs

The Michigan State Police collected 693.7 pounds of prescription drugs at MSP posts across the state on the semi-annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day held Sat., April 28.

The MSP partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other local law enforcement agencies for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to provide a venue for citizens to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs.

All 29 MSP posts participated in the one-day ‘Take Back’ effort by serving as drop-off points for citizens to discard expired, unused and unwanted medications for destruction.

Brighton – 41 lbs
Cadillac – 11.2 lbs
Calumet – 18 lbs
Caro – 17 lbs
Coldwater – 13 lbs
Flint – 10 lbs
Gaylord – 18 lbs
Gladstone – 14 lbs
Hart – 12 lbs
Houghton Lake – 28 lbs
Iron Mountain – 20 lbs
Jackson – 45 lbs
Lakeview – 7 lbs
Lansing – 62 lbs
Lapeer – 5 lbs
Metro – 20 lbs
Monroe – 15 lbs
Mt. Pleasant – 65 lbs
Negaunee – 32 lbs
Niles – 43.5 lbs
Paw Paw – 16 lbs
Rockford – 14 lbs
Sault Ste. Marie – 50 lbs
St. Ignace – 71 lbs
Wakefield – 3 lbs
Wayland – 9 lbs
