MARENGO TWP, CALHOUN CO. - Police in Calhoun County believe a second man was involved in the murder of a man in Marengo Township Sunday. Sheriff's deputies arrested Douglas Eugene Shepherd, 50, of Bellevue. He is charged with accessory after the fact in the murder of Larry Denniston. Lauren Dale Omelay, 63, of Marshall, has been charged with Denniston's murder.
Investigators say that Shepherd aided Omely by destroying evidence of the murder.
Larry Denniston's body was found Sunday afternoon in a wooded area off Ely Road in Butler Township, which is in the northeast corner of Branch County. Authorities say Denniston's body had multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation continues.
