EATON COUNTY -- The Sheriff's Office has identified the body found at a park in Grand Ledge Friday.

Clare Horstmanshof was found at Lincoln Brick Park around noon. Hikers saw his body in a pond and called police.

The Eaton County Medical Examiner determined Horstmanshof’s death a suicide.

The 46 year-old was reported missing in mid-December. Police say they had already searched the park since Horstmanshof went missing.

As the story states, it's a suicide. Every community will have things happen, there is no safe community. It's up to you as a parent tp watch your kids and teach them that it's not always safe. You can't assume that because it's a "small town" that it's safe. I like Grand Ledge, and would be happy to move there....

Hi, my name is Jen and I live in Grand Ledge MI. I heard just this morning that a body was foung in one of GL more popular parks. I was wondering if anything new has been relesed on this subject. I have two school aged children that I'm going to be sending to school here in a few hours. I really worrry for this town, in the recent months I've heard of a child kidnapper, a child bringing weapons to school, and now a dead body is found. Is Grand Ledge as safe as everyone belives it is? I love living here, its beutiful and the people are kind. why is this happening here?

I have always lived in Grand Ledge, and I do beleive it is a safe town. Nothing has been released as to what happened to this body, I think it is better to wait for autorities to release info before jumping to conclusions. As for the child kidnapper that child admitted later that she was lying. Children bringing weapons to school can just be chalked up to bad parenting, weapons should not be available for children to take to school. I do still beleive this town is safe.

This is still a safe and wonderful place to live. The man was a missing person and no foul play was involved.

Jen, this was a suicide. What isn't safe is growing older within the borders of the U.S, being in your 40's and 50's and being thrown under the bus. High fives in the sports bars as U.S.A bombs another country, while middle aged are denied health care, jobs, ect.

Worrying your freaking head off solves a lot doesn't it ? Lets know that everybody down through the ages thought the world was coming to a end and guess what it hasn't yet. Things as we know it gets worse and worse but people keep on living and babies are being born every day. There's still hope and faith, the world keeps on spinning and people are growing to old age, maybe not everyone but enough to show it can be done.Lifes great, whats your problem ??
