Michigan's unemployment rate went back up to 7.5 percent in February.

The rate went back up to December's levels after dropping to 7.1 percent in January.

The national jobless rate in that time has hovered between 5.2 percent and 5.4 percent.

The state Department of Labor and Economic Growth reported an increase in both the number of people working in Michigan and those looking for work.

The number of payroll jobs in Michigan went by 10,000 last month to reach nearly 4.4 million. The change mostly is due to the addition of 9,000 manufacturing jobs.

Recalls from short-term layoffs in the auto industry are the reason for the increase in the manufacturing sector.
