A plan to build a new transportation facility next to four Eaton Rapids' schools, funded by a bond approved last March, has some voters angry.
"This is not how they sold it to the community", said Scott Wallace. Wallace said he voted for the plan because he thought the building would be located much farther away from the schools.
Wallace said he now worries about the increased traffic and fumes harming students.
Eaton Rapids Superintendent, Bill DeFrance, said the district realized the original property was too expensive, after the vote was taken. That's why the new land, next to the school, was chosen.
Ground is expected to be broken within the next few months. DeFrance said his goal is to have the facility complete by September 2006.
