Michigan's official Christmas began in Grand Ledge this year. That's where the state's Christmas tree was cut down.

The tree that will stand in front of the state Capitol will come from Grand Ledge. Hundreds of residents and dignitaries gathered to watch as the tree was cut down.

The tree will be taken to Lansing over the weekend and will be lighted later this month.
