Speeding Fines

The speeding limit on Saginaw Street and parts of Grand River Avenue in East Lansing are being dropped back down by ten miles an hour, as they were a month ago.

It's not known, at this time, if the speeding fines will follow.

Chief Justice David Jordan, East Lansing 54B District Court, upped the fines by $40 when the speed limits were increased. East Lansing City Manager Ted Staton said it's a decision that's out of the city's control.

News10 tried to contact Jordan Wednesday, but was told he's on vacation this week.

However, Staton said, "Whatever rationale the judge had for raising the fine, I'm sure he'll revisit that to see if that still exists."
