For about an hour Monday, the sparks and sizzles at Lansing's Demmer Corp. moved from the manufacturing floor to the campaign stage, where presidential candidate Mike Huckabee told crowds it's time to fix michigan.

"It wouldn't be unfair to say it's time America needs to help save Michigan," Huckabee said at a rally Monday surrounded by hundreds of workers.

The Republican hopeful is hopeful new tax reform could change Michigan's jobs situation.

"I know some say these are jobs that aren't coming back. Well, they could come back if our government would start working for us rather than working against us," Huckabee says.

Worker Art Clark says he understands why Huckabee chose Demmer as a backdrop for his final campaign push in Michigan.

"He's trying to talk to the common person, and that's us. We're about as common as you get," Clark says,

But he and his co-workers want to hear some uncommon fixes to Michigan's broken economy.

"The biggest issue we have here in Michigan is jobs," Clark says. "I live in Owosso, and basically factories have rolled up the sidewalks and moved south."

Many of the workers we spoke to were undecided before the speech. But after hearing Huckabee, they say they may have gotten what they needed to make their decision.

Demmer worker Travis Vankir was one of those people.

"I was completely undecided," he says. "I didnt know what i wanted to do, but after listening today, it's pretty influential." He tells News10.

"We need someone who's gonna stand up for Michigan," Art Clark.

And Huckabee's hoping at least this crowd thinks he's their guy.
