The future layoffs at general motor's lansing car assembly plant will hit the City of Lansing right in it's wallet.

Displaced workers will face at least a five percent cut in take home pay.

Less income for workers means less income tax revenue for the city says council member Carol Wood.

She says it's an estimated 110-thousand dollar decrease in income tax revenue for 2005, and that could balloon to one-point-four million in 2006.
