"We won a big victory in New Hampshire," Arizona Senator John McCain said at a rally at MSU.
The Comeback Kid is hoping to ride the wave of his New Hampshire victory into a win here in Michigan's primary.
"I'm proud of the people here in Michigan who are going to win this election and send us to the White House of the United States of America," McCain said.
Speaking to a mostly collegiate crowd, McCain spoke of the economy and the climate.
"We must reduce our dependence on foreign oil and we can do that as we address climate change as well," he said.
But the bulk of McCain's speech revolved around Iraq.
"The war has been frustrating and sad," McCain said. "But, we are succeeding there."
No thanks to democrats, McCain said.
"If we had done what the democrats wanted to do and set a date for withdrawl, Al Qeada would be announcing their victory over the United States," he said.
As President, McCain said the capture of Osama bin Laden would be a top priority.
"If I have to, I would follow him to the gates of hell and bring him to justice," McCain said.
The people that crowded the Kellogg Center seemed to appreciate McCain's message.
"I think he's a really good candidate and has a lot of experience," said MSU Freshman Corey Rubino.
"I really like that he supports the troops," said MSU Senior Brad Riedy. "That really struck a chord with me."
If McCain struck a chord with enough Michigan voters to win remains to be seen.
