Drivers in downtown Lansing had a short break, but Capitol Loop construction is back. Stage one of phase two began Monday with the closure of Allegan Street from Capitol Avenue to just past Pine Street.
Stage one lasts until June at which time stage two will start. Stage two will close Walnut Street from Allegan to Ottawa. The third and final stage, which runs from June to August, includes the Allegan Street and Capitol Avenue intersection as well as final paving, restoration and clean up.
The project is a dual undertaking by the Michigan Department of Transportation and the City of Lansing. MDOT will update the roadway and the city will update the sewer system. For a complete listing of the latest road closures, visit the state's Web site at www.michigan.gov/capitol-loop.
