The string of recent fires has left the local Red Cross Chapter strapped for cash to help those affected by the fires. They will continue to help, but rely heavily on donations from the community.
They say the most recent fire on Sunday will cost about $15,000 to $20,000. They received a great outpouring of contributions after the first of the fires, the Waverly Park Apartment fire. But since that time, they have not received many donations.
The Red Cross goes to the scene of every local disaster and helps those affected with their immediate needs such as shelter, clothing, food, and medicine.
If you'd like to donate, you can make a check out to the Mid-Michigan American Red Cross Local Disaster Relief Fund. Send checks to:
1800 East Grand River Avenue
Lansing, MI 48912.
Or you can donate online by visiting www.midmichiganredcross.org.
