The fourth apartment complex fire in one month brings the question of renters insurance up again. As with the other three fires, the majority of tenants at Country Way East in Meridian Township just didn't have it. And now they're out of luck.
News Ten spoke with a local insurance agent and was quoted roughly $13 per month for about $20,000 worth of coverage. Derwood Boyd, agent, says it would cover anything removable including clothes, books, movies, furniture and fixtures. In some instances, you may be able to get renters insurance for free or at least heavily discounted as companies now offer multiple policy discounts.
