East Lansing students are taking part in the election process, but not as voters, but as election inspectors.
Thirty-two teens worked at area precincts as election inspectors. It was part of a fund raising effort for the East Lansing High School Band. Teens say they gained valuable insight into the voting process.
The 32 students makes this the most student election workers in any jurisdiction in the state of Michigan.
Election inspectors say this inside look at the way the whole process works encourages them to vote when they turn 18.
