Despite a week full of economic disappointment in Lansing, New York and the nation are cheering Friday evening.
Milestone stock prices were posted on Wall Street. The Dow Jones and the S&P 500 both reached their highest closing numbers since 2001, rising 107 and 11 points respectively.
Analysts say its thanks to optimistic jobs numbers.
The U.S. Labor department released its report today saying the economy created 262,000 jobs last month, while the unemployment rate held relatively steady at 5.4%.
Michigan's unemployment rate is 7.1% in January, improving slightly from 7.5% in December.
