Elliot Covazos has lived one block from the Lansing Car Assembly Plant for four years. He says he's worried they will remain empty after the shut down and his neighborhood will resemble parts of Flint or Saginaw.
Van Martin, with commerical realtor CB Richard Ellis, says the size of the plant's footprint could be benefiical for both commercial and residential development.
Carol Wood, with the Lansing City Council, says she wants some answers from GM about their plans for the facility before the city moves ahead. But, she wants those answers soon because the city is working on a defict. The next city budget is due to be finalized by May... the same month the plant is set to close for good.
The Lansing City Council will be meeting at noon on Thursday to discuss the topic.
