The Michigan State Police say they've responded to about 30 accidents in the last 10 days.
Police advise you to not follow the car in front of you too closely because you may not be able to stop in time. Also, be careful at intersections and on bridges.
They also say preparing an emergency kit for your car is a good idea in case your car breaks down and you get stranded. Include items like blankets, food, a flashlight, and warm clothing.
Be sure to plan extra time to reach your destination when you head out in the evening, and watch out for the snow plows.
If you would like more information on the road conditions, you can call the Michigan State Police at 800-381-8477 or log on to the Michigan Department of Transportation's Web site at www.michigan.gov/mdot.
