Michigan GOP Leadership Race Tightens

Michigan Republican Chairwoman Betsy DeVos is backing Lansing businessman Saul Anuzis to be her replacement. But his path to winning the chairmanship at the February state GOP convention in Grand Rapids still isn't clear.

One former opponent got back into the race Monday, and a Lansing-area investment adviser is thinking of mounting a campaign. Two other candidates dropped out of the race last month.

DeVos says it's time for the merry-go-round of candidates to end. But Myrah Kirkwood says there are plenty of Republican activists who haven't picked a favorite for party leader. She got back in the race Monday.

Scott Schultz also is thinking of running. He owns Schultz Investment Advisors in Williamston and has been active in GOP politics in the past.
