Local fire departments now have a device that can instantly identify the potentially deadly anthrax bacteria.
During the height of the anthrax scare in Michigan last year, it would take two or three days of lab work to determine if the white powdery substance was anthrax.
The Lansing Fire Department and other departments in the area were given the device by General Motors. The company hopes to get the bioterrorism unit into the hands of other communities as well.
