East Lansing Clean Up
70,000 people for a football game can usually make a mess. One local organization is trying to clean it up.

Ceramic tiles, cups and beer cans. These are just some of what members of the Community Relations Coalition found on the streets of East Lansing on Sunday morning.
"So our neighborhood clean up is something we do twice every fall," Community Relations Coalition intern coordinator, Olivia Seifert, said.
Roughly 20 people roamed East Lansing's streets picking up trash after the MSU football game. To the surprise of some, it was a little dirtier than they thought it would be.
"It was really surprising that students don't necessarily pick up after themselves," coalition intern, Allison Flanagan, said.
While it seemed like those out cleaning were enjoying themselves, including East Lansing's mayor Victor Loomis, there were mixed emotions about the clean up efforts.
"I thoroughly enjoy working with the students and being out here and being Spartans together and doing something together," Loomis said. "On the other side of the coin it's unfortunate that we have to be out here picking up other people's trash."
But, those volunteers picking up other people's trash are a huge help to East Lansing Public Works team, which can only clean up so much.
"To take added resources and allocate them to this would be an additional expense and these are tougher economic times for the city," Loomis said.
But as disgusting as it may have been for those cleaning up, it was worth it in the end to see the streets clean.
"That's why we come to State," Flanagan said. "It's a gorgeous campus, it's a gorgeous area so we want to keep it that way."
Those out helping Sunday, were trying to do just that.
