MENOMINEE, Mich. (AP) -- A man who police say was caught with a bulldozer stolen more than 30 years ago in the Upper Peninsula is headed to trial.
During a preliminary examination Wednesday, a judge ruled there was enough evidence for Michael John Mathias Jr., of Daggett, to stand trial.
The 66-year-old Mathias was scheduled for circuit court arraignment January 7 on a charge of possessing stolen property.
The bulldozer disappeared around 1975 from a logging site in Menominee County.
State police say it was found this fall in a storage building owned by Mathias, who formerly worked for the logging company and had reported the bulldozer missing.
Mathias says he's innocent. He says the machine in his shed wasn't the one that was stolen.
