The body of Timothy Galbrieth -- a 45-year-old federal fugitive -- is now at Sparrow Hospital where they'll conduct an autopsy.
Galbrieth had been on the run since 2001. He was at Las Vegas corrections center on drug charges. In December 2001, he was transferred to a prison in Morgantown, West Virginia. He never showed up.
Federal marshalls had finally zeroed in on him in the Lansing area and set up surveillance on the place he was staying. A spokesman for the U.S. Marshalls says they saw him leave the house, get into the car. When they attempted to stop him, he began the wild ride toward Laingsburg.
Clinton County will take reports on this situation and turn them over to a special Mission Team with the Michigan Sheriff's Association for an investigation. Two Clinton County deputies are on paid leave, as per procedure. They exchanged gunfire with Galbrieth.
