Stop Signs to Stay at Lansing Intersection

The Lansing City Council has voted to keep stop signs at the intersection of Washington and Michigan, at least until a renovation project scheduled for 2005. At that time, a round-about will likely be built.

However, several business owners in the area voiced concern Monday over the stop signs. They said it's too busy of an intersection and should have signals. They said people don't come to complete stops endangering the lives of pedestrians.

Lansing city officials said the intersection only has about 6000 cars a day and no accidents have been reported there this year.
