At least six DeWitt Township group daycare providers may have to leave town as an ordinance reveals they're out of compliance.
Group daycare businesses are licensed by the state to serve up to 12 children.
DeWitt Township says one ordinance prevents such business in non-agricultural zone areas.
Several daycare businesses found out this past summer that they are not in the proper zones based on the ordinance.
As a result, at least one childcare provider is planning to leave the area and calls the local rules frustrating and unclear.
The township says it is considering reviewing its ordinances but claims the rules are clear for the providers in question.
