Governor Granholm met with Democratic and Republican governors Wednesday in an effort to make the Medicaid program more sustainable.
Medicaid is a federal-state program that provides health care for 50 million poor and working poor.
Granholm says the governors want to avoid Medicaid cuts in the coming budget, give states more flexibility to experiment and achieve cost efficiencies, and craft a comprehensive approach to re-examining the program.
The group hasn't settled on any specific proposal yet.
