The U.S. Census Bureau says household income in Michigan has dropped faster than the national average. That comes from a new report on incomes for last year.

The state's losses appear to have come in higher-paying technology and manufacturing sectors.

In Michigan, the median household income dropped four-point-one percent to $45,915 from 2000 to 2001.

Nationwide, the median income fell 2.2 percent to $42,228.

Michigan's inflation-adjusted median incomes rose about 11 percent between 1989 and 1999.
