A week after a group of local African-American pastors broke with political tradition by endorsing the Republican candidate for a Lansing Senate seat; the Democrat in the hotly contested race has gotten the support of the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus.
The Caucus announced it will endorse State Representative Virg Bernaro in his bid for the 23rd District Senate seat. The Caucus says Bernaro has been a supporter of the urban agenda.
Eight pastors who endorsed Bernero's opponent, Republican Representative Paul DeWeese say that DeWeese has been a supporter of black citizens.
Caucus members say the voting record is what counts.
