Voting Good for Your Health

Casting your ballot has both social and psychological benefits. Young voters (ages 18-24) were found to be less likely to feel depressed, less likely to use drugs, and less likely to engage in violent behavior.

Voting has the same effects as being involved in sports or other extracurricular activities.

Researchers also say the feeling of having control and having your voice heard is psychologically beneficial.

Parents should discuss local and presidential elections with younger children as well. They should start early to pave the way for productive citizens.
