General Motors is spending roughly $450 million to expand and refurbish two plants in Flint.

It is investing $300 million for expansion of the Flint Engine South plant and $148 million for the Flint Truck Assembly plant.

The state earlier this month offered General Motors $28 million if it invested in the two plants.

The automaker says the investments will create 300 new jobs. GM says it has invested $20 billion in its American operations in the past five years.

GM's announcement comes one day after Ford said it's spending $300 million to modernize the body shop at its Michigan Truck Plant in suburban Detroit.
