The unemployment rate in Michigan increased to seven percent in November, the highest level of 2004, the state announced Wednesday.

Michigan has one of the worst jobless rates in the nation. The national unemployment rate was five-point-four percent in November.

A state economic official attributed the rate increase to higher-than-expected job cuts in the manufacturing industry related to the auto industry.
