Your heating bill will run you about $20 more per month this winter. Millions of dollars more in grant money is being released to help low income families who can't afford to pay their heating bills.
The announcement was made at a news conference Wednesday. Chair of the Michigan Public Service Commission says $15 million will be available come February or March. That's in addition to the $40 million available annually from the commission.
The money is given to organizations like the Salvation Army, then it's distributed to low income families who've been served utility shut off notices.
