The factors range from lead testing to abuse and neglect. The Kids Count report breaks down what impacts the well-being of the state's youth in a county by county format. The information is often used to help state and federal lawmakers make policy decisions about funding.

The report found the number of children born into poverty increased from the year before, along with the number of children who need access to pre-school programs. Also, the report found only 19 percent of children ages one and two were tested for lead.

These are just a few of the findings; if you'd like to view the entire report, go to www.milhs.org.
