well someone besides us average people need to do some trimming.alot of us are not eating right.we hope to make it to a gas station friday after work on pay day.talk about running on fumes.we all are hoping for a very mild winter as we have turned our heat down to 60 if were lucky.my kids are getting coats, hats and gloves.to ware in the house,no joke.for christmas that is.had the cable shut off.it was that or the light bill.we keep the computer, but let long distance go on the phone.I have very unhappy kids.my mom watches the kids for pennies,or one of us would have to quit work.social services say we make 10$ to much a month to get help of some kind.local food banks don't give very much any more.they are not getting enough donnations.our jobs don't pay much but were trying. I really don't think mich gov has a clue to what this is like for people.we are no more than a report on paper to them.but they still take my tax money.no questions asked.god needs a direct line from mich to him.asap

jenn and her groupies, will not be here forever,or maybe no where else if this keeps up.so by 2011 how many of them will even be around to get any health or pay cuts?as they stall over and over.tax what, cut what?how long have we got to put up with these people?thank god we will be loosing bush soon.and what a mess he is leaving behind for someone.I don't trust either party, which is the worse of two evils.mich talk about bridges to canada, power plants, ect.costing millions.when I asked my kids if they wanted to chip in money on a new tent for the family,my 8yr old said NO,I want to learn how to budget so when I grow up I can fix mich.I did not know rather to laugh or cry.our famiy is feeling deep cuts to our famiy spending.as the kids try to cope,we have cut way back.and winter and the holidays look grim.we will skimp by but many won't.and that is so wrong.our gov in mich and at the white house has made so many mistakes the last 25 yrs.god help us all.

Wow, a 5% cut. Why not at least a 37% cut? It was after that increase that we started having severe problems. I know, I know, that did not cause the budget problems- it didn't help, either. And if they want to be "on par" with state employees- we have been lucky to get a 1 or 2 % increase a year, tho one year it was 4%- and Mike Bishop wants us to give that back.

I have not seen ONE thing change to improve Michigan's economy. Your right, Michigan is down the gutter. We need to make our legislatures part time ONLY.

knowing how our recent gov has keep changing thing,2011 is along time away.so rather this happens or not ,or if they can get more pay or if.if is a big word.theres not alot in mich that makes that yearly pay.there's alot of things that can be change in mich.alot of things done yrs ago can be checked out and changed, and jobs are needed, mainly factory in many areas.they know what pushed them out so what does it take to bring them back.and the white house needs to do something with gas prices before there is no usa left.and we really need to get out of this china recall thing.which is a threat to the usa in many ways.and even if compaines wanted to pull out.being a communist country it may not be easy.we can no longer afford to make other countries rich.we must come first.it will mean surrival of the usa.bush or who ever is in offce needs to get on the ball.war is not the only problems.all states must keep up or fall behind.as the white house needs to fix things to.

this is not "on par" with other state employees. other state employees only get 90% of health care benefits paid at age 65, after working for 30 years for Michigan. if 14 years is "on par" with 30 years, and 55 years old is "on par" with 65 years old, then I'm going to have to start adjusting my tax bill. If the computations show that I should owe $3,000, I'll only pay $1,400 - that's "on par" right?

I think this deal is very generous concidering what is going on and has been for a long time.most of us would like that pay,and would have alot of it put back for our older yrs.and still lived a decent life.most of us know how valueable money is because we don't have only pennies and can't pinch any more out of them.if they really care about there job in mich and about the people no matter who they are or how poor they are.they'll fix mich in away it is fair to all.after this two weeks off for hunting and thanksgiving maybe they will feel more like working at there job.many will not have such a nice time off work because they don't have there kind of money to spend.they need to be greatful for what they have,as many have no home, can't pay there bills, can't do the holidays, and have no clue to how they will heat there homes with gas prices.all we have is god and prayer.which would help them get it together, and help them to be good leaders.

That is not a trim. That is spare change compared to the budget problems. They need to do more than that to prove that they are serious about improving the michigan economy.

You said it Paula. I really like the H*LL in a handbasket part.
Posted by: bill Location: lansing on Nov 8, 2007 at 05:03 PM

well it just has to be done.many of us have done more than trim.and we are the ones breaking our backs to give the gov tax money.with some wages cut back, low wages and just not enough money to live on.try being the people of mich for 1 month,us down here at the bottom.we never expected to see mich in this shape.and we hate to see it the way it is.but someone must of made some bad mistakes.as someone must clean it up.there mess or not.gas prices and home forclosers, drops in the stock market.it all adds up.there' not alot whom even make 40,000$ a yr.be greatful for what we have.it is better than No job, which to many are faced with.as many have no health care,or very bad health care.the gov people need to understand they are not god.when one earns there wages people might give raises, but when you do as you please, and when, and play around with peoples money and lives, they don't see it as deserving much.don't act like a kid that just got a toy taken away.when most don't have that toy.

Excuse me, but a 'regular' State employee has to work 30 years to qualify for full retirement benefits, including health. Why only 16 years for legislators? This is only the tip of the iceberg about why Michigan is going to H*LL in a handbasket!

HA!Ha!Ha!. Its about time.

If they went to part time congress, they would still make more than most michigan residents.

2009 to 2011 just enough time to be swept under the rug and forgotten about. Just another way to pacify the situation. Surprise, surprise.
