Plates were piled high on Thanksgiving Day as local charities dished out thousands of free meals to the less fortunate.
Close to 75 meals were served at the Lansing City Rescue Mission. This year, the mission was part of a national effort called the Great Thanksgiving Banquet, in which 500,000 meals were served to the poor and homeless.
Free meals were also served at the Cristo Rey Community Center, Volunteers of America, and Stockbridge Elementary School.
