A little more than seven million people have registered to vote in next month's general election in Michigan. That's according to the Secretary of State's office.
That number doesn't include people who signed up at their county clerk's office or had mailed in a registration form by Monday's deadline. The preliminary count represents about 96 percent of those eligible to vote in the state.
The early number is up slightly from the last presidential election, when 6.9 million voters registered. Of those, 4.3 million cast a ballot.
