Another Budget Deadline Nears

State lawmakers planned meetings today to try and hammer out agreements on spending plans for K-12 education and other aspects of the state budget.
Lawmakers face an October 31st deadline to make more than 430 million dollars in spending cuts.
Failure to reach agreement by the end of the month could result in another partial government shutdown.
State services were disrupted for more than four hours early October 1st as lawmakers struggled to reach even a temporary budget deal.
But lawmakers appear optimistic a new, more permanent deal will be reached without a repeat. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
